Surfing at Sunway Lagoon - Malaysia

Sunway Lagoon is an amusement park in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It features rides in both the water park and the adjacent dry park. The park is home to the world's largest wave pool, measuring impressive 139,800 square feet (13,000 square meters). It has 5 different theme parks in 1 amazing destination.

Sunway Lagoon open daily from 10am to 6pm. With more than 80 rides and attractions, and within 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Lagoon is the park you will have to visit when you are in town.

Water Park
Whether you are looking to cool down in the tropical sun, it is a fun adventure for all; even the little ones have something to cheer about when you let them loose at Little Zimbabwe, the interactive water playground, for a splashing good time.

It has a Man-Made Sandy Surf Beach boasts 3 islands. You can surf with waves up to 8 feet high. Tired from surf, you can relax at beachfront area with coconut tree. The surf is only available on Saturday, Sunday and Malaysian public holiday.

You do not have to bring your camera at this park, there are official photographers around that will take as many photos as you like and even teach you how to pose. The pictures cost around RM35 each and some package deals available if you purchase more photos.

Scream Park
It is a theater with 3 d  zombies show. If you are looking for a hair-raising experience, you can try this.

Amusement Park
Put on your best Cowboy swagger as you take a trip down the Wild Wild West. Have a quick Pow Wow with the Native Indians or catch a glimpse of the gun-slinging cowboys.

The excitement never stops at the Niagara Falls Flume Ride, or the raging waters of the Grand Canyon River Rapids. When you have had enough of the rough and tumble, impress your friends at the Alamo games arcade as you put your dexterity to test.

Quench your thirst for adventure as you put your wits to test at the World of Adventure, with rides that will spin, dip, thrill and send you screaming for more.

Spin out of control in the Tomahawk, as it takes you 360-degrees over, and over, and over again!
Take a trip to the high seas on the Pirates Revenge – Malaysia's first 360-degree Rotating Pirate Ship or ‘walk the plank as you take on the majestic view from the 428 metres long Worlds Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge.


Extreme Park
It is an adrenaline pumping fun, challenge yourself with the large variety of feats at the Extreme Park. You encourage to hit the bulls eye at the Archery Target Shooting, go off-road on the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) or meet your need for speed at the Go-Kart. Take extreme to a whole new level with the Slingshot Ride – the G-Force X. you can try soaring through the lines of Flying Fox at 206 meters or take the ultimate leap of faith at Bungy Jump

Wildlife Park
It is  an attractive mini zoo. You can get up close and personal with your favourite animals.  Just snap photo with the animals there. Lots of animals there, mammals, reptiles, free flying birds in the wildlife park, monkeys and other furry animals. The tigers have a fairly large enclosure. There is also a line of tiny cages with squirrels, possums and prairie dogs.

There is a 3pm animal show, and many animals by the waterside, you can request to feed guinea pigs, rabbits in the feeding area. Kids really have fun doing this! There is also an enclosed birds area that kids can walk around the birds and hens / ducks on the ground

Getting Here
Sunway Lagoon is located in the township of Bandar Sunway in Petaling Jaya. It is accessible via a network of expressways (Federal Highway, Damansara-Puchong Expressway, New Pantai Express Way and KESAS Highway) and is a mere 15-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur.  Ample parking space and multiple options of public transportation are conveniently available as taxi and bus services are aplenty. KTM Komuter trains stop at Subang Jaya Station, while Putra-LRT stops at the Kelana Jaya station. From there, just catch a feeder bus to the Sunway Pyramid stop.

Some tips:
  • It is better to buy the ticket via online, you can skip the long tickets queue.
  • If you don’t have tickets than be early before 10 a.m.to avoid line ups
  • It is not allowed for outside food, but you can bring water bottles and fill from fountains
  • Using an E-payment is very convenient, but it can not work at some stalls
  • Don’t forget to get your deposit back for the wristbands, although they will try to convince you to exchange it for some souvenirs.
  • Make full use of the locker of RM10 which can be used many times compared to only one used for RM5 locker. Use lockers in center of park.
  • Get an adequate time for photo and shopping
  • Plan your time wisely. Prioritise the park that you want to enjoy most. Remember that there 5 parks inside there.
  • Don't forget to bring your own sunscreen.
  • If you take a taxi, be sure you have negotiate the fare first. Give your destination clearly.
  • They are not provided a towel, you better bring your own or you can buy one from souvenir shop
  • Sunway Resort or Pyramid Tower hotel next door to easily access Sunway Lagoon and shopping mal
  • Check the weather before you arrive as most of the rides are closed if it is raining.
